introduced at Interzo 2018, now available everywhere. The Multi Standard - a reference solution for checking test kits (Ca, Mg, KH, K+) and the NP Standard - a reference solution for checking test kits (NO3, PO4) both from Tropic Marin.
You can hardly believe it. After a few weeks now and the increasingly intensive emergence and growth of glass lice, I treated the large glass lice one last time with Aiptacap from Aquamedic. Well, what didn't work the first time seems to work now. The glass lice are gone, but the problem with the flatworms is getting worse.
Kai Friedrich comes from Mannheim and is a marine aquarist with heart and soul. He is particularly fond of the large polyps. We finally managed to film the extremely colourful aquarium (which wasn't easy at all). A few days before our visit, the Reefloat arrived, which Immo Gerber introduced to us a long time ago. Here we were also allowed to film a little bit. The Reefloat will certainly divide opinion. Ultimately, it is an almost fully automated and gentle water change by means of a device.
Unfortunately, the first action to destroy the glass lice did not really lead to success. Here we show you how to continue. This time the subject is Wurdemanni shrimps and a small nudibranch called Berghia, which likes glass lice.
Despite using dead rock, we now have the first glass lice in the aquarium after about 4 months (as of November). In addition, there are a few planaria, although the correct name is turbellaria. They were probably brought in with bought offshoots. In spite of all efforts to examine the corals, some of them managed to establish themselves in the 400 litre tank. We show how to deal with them, but also name animal enemies and their advantages and disadvantages.
Announced at Fisch & Reptil by Dirk Sturm, the new pendix LED luminaire from daytime is already available. This is an ingenious modular LED system for open aquariums. We took a look at it at Megazoo Düsseldorf together with Horst Roguschke and of course shot a video about it.
At Fisch und Reptil 2018, the NAUTI DISCOVER system aquarium was on display and, of course, also available for purchase. We didn't miss the opportunity to film the great system aquarium for you. Especially because it differs considerably from the usual aquarium systems.
Dr. Ben Funk was available for an interview at the ATI stand. The main topic was the quite new EPO Reef, which can be used quite easily for a reef construction. It really couldn't be any simpler. In addition, there was interesting information about the Essentials pro.
This is how marketing can work... while other exhibitors came along in the usual uniform white, Fauna had a black tent, lots of black light, great works of art on the wall that shone and of course the usual great corals and the well-known accessories. This stand was really something special, but it was hard to film with normal equipment. Therefore, a mobile phone with a filter had to be used.
TransMarine was there for the first time in Sindelfingen, an interesting stand with great corals. Here, too, we found what we were looking for. Then, of course, there was the great decoration by Riffkeramik.de, which showed what a modern reef setup could look like today. This article is rounded off with an interview with Tobi from Blumentier Aquaristik.
We continue with reporting from the Fisch & Reptil in Sindelfinden. At Lisa's Koralle there was a very interesting project to see, namely how a filter basin and the drainage shaft can look optimally. The solution was a transparent system with components from Royal Exclusiv. Then we went to Korallen und Meer and Korallen Outlet.
Where we were used to beautiful Ricordeas, this time we saw really beautiful Zoa crusts, as well as Mushroom Bubbles and Co. We thought that was great, so we also took two Zoa offshoots with us.
At Korallenzucht Karlsruhe, of course, it was all about corals and fish, besides the very expensive and special corals. At aquariOOm it was all about the new Maxspect Gyre, the Fragnifer - a glass cleaner with magnifying glass and rack function -, the 4-channel dosing system Kamoer X4 Wifi, the new very chic LED light from GNC, as well as the already expected Reefbot, the computer that is supposed to be able to measure water for us.
ARKA had a veritable firework of products at the start. There were new media filters, backpack technology for people without technical basins, hang-on systems and more. ARKA also launches colour filters for blue light photography with the MY REEF Studio.
After almost exactly 3 months of operation, a phenomenon has occurred in our Aquamedic Armatus tank: the water level in the main tank rises inexplicably every day. Mostly this happens at night. This does not seem to be an Aqua Medic specific problem, as I have found and watched several opinions and videos on other systems such as RedSea or Eheim. But see for yourself how we are tackling this now with the help of Aqua Medic.
